About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Software Development, the Quality Assurance Lead is a subject matter expert and will act as a senior member of the team who is responsible for evolving the quality engineering practice at MTF, including establish new ways of working and lead the practice. This role plays a critical part in shaping how quality is embedded across the software delivery lifecycle, from feature definition through to release, ensuring that excellence in testing, automation, and continuous improvement is a core part of our engineering culture.
As the first dedicated quality leader at MTF, you will develop and execute the strategy for quality, own key metrics, and work closely with cross-functional squads to drive innovation, reliability, and accountability in how we build and release software.
Just some of the things you’re responsible for:
- Lead the development and execution of MTF’s quality strategy, including tooling, processes, and team practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional squads to shape features and define quality criteria early in the development process.
- Own the quality of software releases, including test planning, execution, and release readiness.
- Define, track, and report on key quality metrics (e.g., defect leakage, test coverage, automation rate, release confidence) to drive accountability and transparency.
- Continuously improve test and release processes, including documentation and tooling.
- Partner with engineers to diagnose issues and implement preventative measures.
- Champion a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the engineering team.
- Introduce and experiment with innovative testing approaches, tools, and frameworks.
- Advocate for modern quality practices.
- Contribute as a senior member of the team and help develop junior engineers in quality practices to ensure cross collaboration and upskilling within the team, as required.
You’ll need to have:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance, including at least 1 - 2 years in a leadership or senior QA role.
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Comfortable in an agile environment, we use Kanban primarily.
- Strong understanding of manual testing practices and test case design.
- Proficiency in test automation frameworks and tools.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and release management.
