You are protected by responsible lending laws.

Because of these protections, the recommendations given to you about your MTF Finance loan are not regulated financial advice.

This means the duties and requirements imposed on people who give financial advice do not apply to these recommendations. This includes a duty to comply with a code of conduct and a requirement to be licensed.

As a responsible lender, MTF Finance will act with care and skill, both before and during the term of your loan.

Privacy

MTF Finance Group, we, us or our means MTF Finance, its subsidiaries, related entities, and network of franchises and approved dealers.

MTF Finance Group collects, uses, discloses, and stores personal information in a way that agrees with our Privacy Statement.

You have the right to see and correct personal information stored by MTF Finance Group. This is in line with the Privacy Act 2020.

MTF Finance Group may send you electronic messages by text, email, and/or instant messaging. You understand the purpose of these messages is to update you about your loan, promote and/or market other products and services we offer.

Credit check authorisation

You understand and agree MTF Finance Group will collect, use, disclose and store personal information about you. This is to assess and consider this loan application and verify information you provide.

This includes:

  • Checking your information, including identification and address, with third parties and third-party databases including Government agencies. Examples include NZ Transport Authority, Department of Internal Affairs and Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR).
  • Carrying out credit checks with credit reporting agencies. MTF Finance Group can share your credit information including repayment history information with credit reporting agencies. These agencies can share information about you. Agencies may store your personal information and share it with others using credit reporting services. Information MTF Finance exchanges could include personal or business credit reports.
  • Checking the Ministry of Justice fines database for any overdue fines you may have. This means we give your information to the Ministry of Justice. If this check is carried out by a credit reporting agency, the search results will be shared with that agency.

If you have given us your driver licence information, this may also be disclosed to a credit reporting agency and the Ministry of Justice as part of the checks we undertake with them.

If you leave out any requested information or fail to share details of money you owe, you understand MTF Finance may not fully consider this application.

You authorise any third party to share your personal information with us for any of these reasons. You understand that if you share any personal information about another person (such as a guarantor), you confirm that the person has authorised the collection of their personal information by MTF Finance Group. You also confirm that you have informed that person of their rights to access and request correction of their personal information.

MTF Finance Group may contact any creditor you owe money to and anyone with a security interest in assets you plan to use as loan security.
