As an experienced credit professional, you’ll apply strong analytical skills to drive sound credit decisions, ensure compliance, and support portfolio risk management. You’ll also engage with stakeholders and act as a collaborative champion for the business lending product.
Just some of the things you’re responsible for:
- Business Lending
- Manage and support the growth of business lending, ensuring alignment with MTF credit policy, processes, strategic objectives and risk appetite. This includes active management and assessment of a business lending pipeline in collaboration with MTF originators and key stakeholders.
- Evaluate and structure complex lending proposals, providing guidance on appropriate terms, covenants and security requirements within agreed service level agreements, in collaboration with MTF originators and key stakeholders.
- Analysing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to make informed lending decisions within agreed service levels.
- Facilities and Credit Risk Management
- Support and mentor Credit Analysts by leading workshops for facility reviews, National Office level loan applications, and Credit Committee work items, ensuring the team are aligned and deliver outcomes as agreed.
- Prepare facility review submissions and board level recommendation papers in line with MTF credit policy, delegated authorities and credit risk appetite.
- Undertake thorough credit analysis across market segments to determine our risk profile at discrete borrower level and at portfolio level.
- Review and analyse MTFs credit risk profile and portfolio performance, including key credit controls, portfolio asset quality, concentrations, recourse performance, bad debt, facility level and associated risk estimates and make recommendations
- Working with cross-functional teams (legal, franchises) to identify and address any potential issues or concerns related to credit risk.
- Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting (Board Reporting)
- Continuously monitor the health and performance of the credit portfolio, identifying early warning signals and potential default trends, in collaboration with Credit Analyst team.
- Contribute to the generation of regular credit portfolio reports for management, highlighting concentrations, delinquency trends, and exposure limits.
You’ll need to have:
- Demonstrated experience in commercial/business lending within the financial services industry (minimum 5 years)
- Strong financial analysis and credit assessment experience to evaluate business lending applications (profit and loss statements, balance sheet and tax return analysis).
- Strong relationship-building skills to foster trust and provide ongoing support to MTF Originators
- Effective communicator with active listening skills, crucial for explaining loan details clearly and understanding the needs of MTF Originators, customers and key internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Tenacious and resilient, with the ability to remain calm when challenged
